Lakewood Township Municipal Utilities Authority

Welcome to the site of the Lakewood Township Municipal Utilities Authority.

Dear Customers,

If you've driven past our offices at 390 New Hampshire Avenue, you've probably noticed that we are quite busy. Construction has started on our new water treatment plant. This facility, which is slated to be completed in summer 2012, will feature state of art treatment processes, and will ultimately include the treatment of eight wells.

Our current facility was built in 1978 for the purpose of treating a single well located onsite at 390 New Hampshire Avenue. Since then, our customer base has grown by approximately 40 percent and our operations staff has doubled. We estimate conservatively that our customer base will increase by another 40 percent over the next 10 to 15 years. Our goal at the Authority is to be able to provide a vital service to our
customers in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible. To this end the Authority was able to obtain a 20 year loan from the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust for the construction of the new facility under very favorable terms. The new facility will streamline the water treatment process and allow us to serve our customers in a most effective and efficient fashion.

What we are most proud of is that we are able to undergo expansion while still keeping our rates to almost half of what most Lakewood residents pay to a private water purveyor, and in fact some of the lowest rates in the entire state.

Best wishes for an enjoyable autumn.

Very truly yours,

Justin Flancbaum
Executive Director
